Fort Lytton Little Look

September 05 2010 category: Weddings

Just a wee little look at a couple of photos that we shot for Kate and Daniel. We did the majority of the photo shoot at Forty Lytton (which, let's be honest, if this is all that stood between Brisbane and the Japanese in WWII - I think we were in all sorts of trouble) - but, I digress, as it really is a very cool spot for photos. But, you will have to wait another week or so before we can show you them all.....

So, in the mean time.. here are two to look at.

Lukla Airport - One Sweet Ride

September 03 2010 category: Travel

Continuing on from our infrequent series "Jess + Steve Honeymoon Nepal" here is just one photo to check out.

This is the airport we flew into to start our Trek to Mt Everest. If you're thinking: "hey, that runway looks really short" and "hey, that runway looks like it goes down hill" and "hey, that runway looks like it goes straight off the edge of a cliff at one end" and "hey, that runway looks like it has a brick wall at the other end" - then, you would be completely right on all counts.

Not a flight for nervous flyers. From Wikipedia:

Tenzing-Hillary Airport (IATALUAICAOVNLK), also known as Lukla Airport, is a small airport in the town of Lukla,[1] in KhumbuSolukhumbu districtSagarmatha zone, eastern Nepal. In January 2008, the airport was renamed in honor of Sir Edmund Hillary and Sherpa Tenzing Norgay, the first persons to reach the summit of Mount Everest.[2] The History Channel program Most Extreme Airports, ranks it as the most dangerous airport in the world.[3]

The airport is popular since Lukla is the place where most people start their climb of Mount Everest. There are daily flights between Lukla and Kathmandu during daylight hours and good weather. Although the flying distance is short, it can easily be raining in Lukla while the sun is shining brightly in Kathmandu. The paved tarmac is only accessible to helicopters and small fixed wing short takeoff and landing (STOL) aircraft such as Twin Otters or Dornier Do 228. There is about a 700-metre (2,000 ft) angled drop at the end of the runway to the valley below. The airport is contained within a chain link fence and patrolled by the Nepal armed police or civil police around the clock.

I Heart PhotoBooth

August 31 2010 category: PhotoBooth

I was clasping at straws to think of a title - and then I saw a photo with a heart in it. That's as deep as it gets.

The thing that always amuses me about the photo booth.. is that it is always the quietest, most unsuspecting people that come back for more all night. Turns out your intreverted friends/family aren't as quiet as you think - that's a general statement... not aimed at anyone in this set of photos :- )

Tammie and James had their wedding reception at Bardon Conference centre... and we hope to show the photos from their wedding day real soon..... but for now, you will have to make do with the booth photos.

Bribie Island Wedding (...the full post)

August 28 2010 category: Weddings

We posted a sneak peek a week or two ago of Crystal & Kirk's wedding.. so, now we're ready to go for the full post.

Beach weddings can be risky affairs... not much room for error in the event of bad weather, thankfully though, the weather was beautiful (I was just setting you up to think it was going to be a wash out). That all said... the team at Beautiful Beach Weddings were ready to move the whole operation indoors should things have turned bad (awesome service). Alas...

Things turned out perfectly on the day. Kirk's father (and uncle) both have old British cars, which they used on the day (and seriously, check the picture out,  Kirk's dad was born to be a driver) - but it went down to the wire, and thanks to some good chaps back in the United Kingdom who expressed some car parts over... were able to get the old girl (car) registered in the nick of time, for the wedding. But the luck continues...

It truly was like mother nature was out to please. Through out the ceremony dolphins could be seen playing and jumping out of the water, so close to the shoreline behind us... and as if it were to be a good omen.. an Eagle was circling overhead, and then continued to follow us for the rest of the day whilst on the bridal party shoot. It was like an episode of Dr Doo Little (though some what less chaotic).

We did most of the bridal shoot at Pacific Harbour Golf Course... which is a pretty sweet course (well, it looks good anyway... not much of a golfer myself..) it's nice to be able to shoot in the one location, but also get a good variety photos.

Kirk and Crystal's reception was one of the most emotional that we have been involved with.. and sure had its share of tears and laughter. The celebration of marriage and the celebration of the memories of those that could not be there, made it a reception that will always be special for us (and no doubt Kirk and Crystal).

Thanks for letting us being a part of your day!!

Jess + Steve (hugs and kisses!) :- )

Hong Kong Lovers!! Woo Woo!!

August 25 2010 category: Portraits

Well.. more like, "Australian's living in Hong Kong", Lovers. (that makes perfect sense in my head...)

As if planning a wedding is not stressful enough, planning it from Hong Kong I assume would be doubly as difficult. Fortunately though, when you are one stylish bride, like Marcela, its a piece of cake. (hows this for a segway...) Speaking of one stylish bride, Marcela also happens to be the chief blogstress at http://www.onestylishbride.com (i have now said one stylish bride 4 times in 2 sentences) - the definitive collection of all things wedding. So, I will suggest, that if you are getting married - you must visit http://www.onestylishbride.com (5 times).

So, back to the story. Michael and Marcela have been in Australia for a few days organising some wedding stuff, so, they wanted to get an engagement shoot done whilst here. Sadly, on the day we had planned it - it was raining (not surprisingly unideal weather for a picnic engagement shoot). So, we postponed it a day... and at least got fine weather... though, not the beautiful sunny afternoon we had hoped for. None the less... a fun time was had by all and we are very much looking forward to shooting their wedding next month at Albert River Winery.
