Backyard Wedding
- January 26th 2012 • Posted by: Jess Marks • Categories: Weddings
Given all the rain lately, this post seems rather timely.
Lismore is one of our favourite places to photograph - and it is sort of funny that the last two weddings we have done there have been backyard weddings... and were both days where the rain threatened... but held off (and produced amazing backdrops for photos).
Make sure you get all the way to the bottom of this post... the sunset photos are almost unbelievable, given the somewhat miserable weather we had for most of the day.
Rain, rain go away!

Eagle Farm Race Course Wedding

You could be forgiven for thinking that this wedding happened somewhere out in a small(ish) country town. But alas... just goes to show what is around in your own backyard.
Nikki and Jona's wedding was jammed full of detail, nostalgia and lots and lots of meaning. Speeches that included the love notes they wrote to each other in high school..... the first "mixed tape" that Jona gave to Nikki as the bonbonerie.... and the photo locations, a place that Jona found when he first got his "P's" and (as we all did) enjoyed driving nowhere in particular....
It was one of those days where it was pretty hard to take a bad picture of anyone or anything... the day just came together so beautifully - in every way.
And to finish off with one long communial table at the reception.... such a amazing (and classy) touch....
Enjoy the photos!

South Africa

This will be the last travel/holiday post for a while! Its hard not to share these images! But, I know that January is the time of year that brides like to do their research.. so, after this one, we will get back to blogging weddings! Promise.
The last part of our trip away was spent in South Africa. We had about a week up in the Kruger National Park. We were extremely lucky.. and saw the "Big 5" animals (Lion, Rhino, Elephant, Leopard and Buffalo)... we were also fortunate enough to see Wild Dogs.... which are quite rare. It is amazing to think that Africa, whilst quite similar in appearance to Australia... has so many animals that would happily eat you for breakfast!
After Kruger.. we spent some time in Capetown. My eldest brother lived in South Africa for some years.. and still has property there. He was gracious enough to fly down from his home in London to spend the week with Jess and I (and our two good friends, Sheree and Noel). It is always great to have someone with local knowledge to show you around! Capetown is a beautiful place... that in many ways could be confused for any coastal city in Australia.
This collection of photos, on the whole, are showing South Africa in a way that most people may not have pictured.
Enjoy!

We've been a bit slack in blogging weddings lately... but, we're on holidays, so, I guess that makes it ok?!
In about an hour we fly out of South Africa back to Brisbane - so, forgive me making the text on this post short. But.. here is Andrew and Athena's Walkabout Creek wedding!
Enjoy!
