Sandgate Waterfront Wedding
Not long after Christmas we had the pleasure of shooting Carla and Luke's wedding. Carla's sister Adrienne got married quite a few years back and I was lucky enough to be the photographer at her wedding (very much in my early days as a photographer) and I used to live with one of Adrienne's best friends - connections all round. So I was quite excited to be there to record Carla's wedding. Carla and Luke live up in Weipa so did a lot of their planning from up there or on trips to Brisbane. Carla was the prime example of a relaxed bride - I think she would win as the calmest bride we've ever worked with!
Anyway, back to their wedding day. We started our day with the girls at Carla's parents house and Steve ducked over to the boys who were getting ready at Luke's parents house. It was a bit of a wet morning so there were quite a few checks of the radar to see if the ceremony could be held outdoors. When we got to Sandgate, Luke was trying to make the tough decision of keeping the ceremony outdoors or moving it inside the reception venue. After checking the radar one more time and watching the rain over the ocean seem to continue to move over the ocean the decision was made. And a good choice it was! After a beautiful ceremony led by Emily Jade we headed down to the pier for some photos. Then it was back up to Sonomas for their cocktail reception. Photobooth photos coming soon... Oh, and funny story from the reception - during the speeches (which were held out the front) a car stopped to ask - quite loudly - and literally mid speech - 'where is the RSL?' Not really the best time to ask for directions... : )
