Why You Shouldn’t Worry about the Mess before your Newborn Photography Session
I don’t think there’s another moment in life where things change quite as much as when you welcome a new baby into the world.
There’s so much anticipation in the lead-up — wondering what your little one will be like. Then comes the birth, and well… that’s a lot. And after that, it’s time to take your newborn home, figure out how to look after for them, and maybe also look after yourself — and any older children — at the same time.
So it’s completely understandable that preparing for a Brisbane newborn photography session can feel like one more thing to worry about.
And you know what many new mums worry about most? The house. It’s hard enough to find time to shower let alone tidy the house, right?!
Don’t Stress About the House
I know it’s easier said than done, but seriously — don’t stress. I don’t expect to walk into a perfectly clean, Instagram-worthy home.
A pile of laundry in the corner and dishes in the sink? That’s just life — especially with a newborn. After over 10 years as a Brisbane newborn photographer, (and Mum to 2 messy children and a few pets to mess things up some more!) I’ve gotten pretty good at hiding mess in photos.
The focus of the session is your newborn baby, not the state of your kitchen.
The Mess Tells the Story
Hear me out. Believe it or not, a little bit of mess can make your photos even more meaningful.
That pile of toys or blankets tells the story of your everyday life.
That cold coffee sitting on the table might make you smile years from now, remembering how chaotic — and wonderful — these early days were.
Maybe its the 4 different types of dummies you’ve bought because your little one doesn’t seem to like any of them and you want to get more than an hour of sleep at night!
These are the things that often get forgotten over time, but they make your photos truly authentic and nostalgic.
What Your Newborn Photos Will Really Capture
At the end of the day, your photos are about your newborn and the love, cuddles, and connection between you all.
So if the state of your house is your main worry for your Brisbane newborn photography session, try not to stress. Chances are I’ve just left my home in a big mess, so there will be zero judgement from me and your photos will still be beautiful.
